Good peeps and beauty everywhere I turn

Thank you, Hilary, for the shout out for the post about my wonderful friend Renie . We have been blessed with more time with her.

And if you came for a visit by way of Smitten Image , welcome! Always great to make new acquaintances. I was blown away by the quality of posts she found this week.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who nominated Hilary's absolutely charming post Recipe for Autumn Cheer . Just try to watch the videos without having a good ole belly laugh. But since she didn't give herself a Post of the Week nod, I'd like to do one here.

A Totally Unauthorized POTW
goes to you, dear Hilary!

And as long as we're on the topic of posts, look what I found at the bus stop yesterday, a yellow pate of hoarfrost. It was mere minutes before the sun would have added sparkle, but I had jump aboard the bus.

The sun is traveling low in the southern sky right now in Minnesota,
and we've been treated to some beautiful blue above us.

Soon, if we're very, very lucky, the snow will fly!

Kathleen! What is hoar frost and why do I only see beer foam? Why oh why do I only see beer foam. Now I'm thirsty. How am I going to explain to Larry that it is an absolute MUST for me to have a Yuengling at 8am.

Thanks Kathleen. Thanks.

Hi Kathleen,

Super pics from you and cute videos over at Hilary's. Surely, you don't really want the snow just yet?!

I just love that first photo of the blooms sticking out from the barbed wire!

Me. I'd like the last photo with that incredible blue sky, branches and birds. (And Alix, quit making me laugh!)

And I'd love to come with you to your rustic cabin...except for that whole snow thing.

Talk about a beautiful post Kathleen.

I am going to go look and read about your friend Renie.

By the way, I have a sister named Kathleen.

Love Renee xoxo

Hoarfrost, not as dubious as it sounds! ;) I'm glad you've been given a bit more time, I hope she gets to see your project to completion.

Hilary's post are always gold and the one you awarded was priceless
I am a big fan of Benny and this time she added a baby!!

Beautiful blue sky behind the tree limbs. We're still waiting for snow, too. Good luck with yours.

Great photos, Kathleen! I'm a little jealous of those blue skies.

Oh aren't you sweet! Thank you so much for the shout out and linkage. I do appreciate that way around trying to nudge me into promoting my own post. :)

Your photos, as always are gorgeous. Beautiful.. just like you are. Thanks, Kathleen. :)

@Jinksy: It's a post, literally. I'm going to post a picture of more of the post for perspective.

@Steven: I'm so intrigued by what people saw on that hoarfrost picture. Yours is the 2nd food intepretation. Just wait till you see what it really is. I'll be posting a picture shortly! Do you ever try riding in the snow? I'm amazed at the people who do it in Minnesota. After crash-landing on the sidewalk in February, I'm pretty chicken about ice, even with a helmut on, but I know there are ways to do it safely. Hope you got yourself a wonderful breakfast!

@Alix: LOL! You're right...it does look like a nice frost mug of beer. I'll soon reveal it's actual identity!

@ Derrick: That photo of you is just THE best. So fun to open up and find a comment from you with that wonderful smile and delightful bow tie. Yes, I truly am ready for the snow. I love love love the snow. Like pave diamonds one day, cotton candy another day, and just all around fun. You do know that my favorite sport is mushing, right? We mushers LIVE for snow. Glad you liked the photos -- and that you paid a visit to Hilary's to see her joyful videos!

@Jane: I'm so glad you liked that photo. I've been saving it since late summer, just waiting for the perfect opportunity. Fun to fete Hillary with it!

@Ellen: Just tell me what size boots you need and coat you wear, and I swear I'll have you properly geared up to enjoy time at the cabin. It's so remote you can't even get cell phone service. It's magical there--you leave feeling so restored and reconnected with the rhythms of the earth. Fall skies are the best! I remember vividly how much I loved the fall sky in Austin when I was in college. Other than Janie's amazing Utah pictures, I don't think I've ever seen such beautiful blue skies as when I went to UT. So, when shall I expect your visit?

@Renee: Thank you! And how amazing that you have a sister named Kathleen. Seems for so long, I rarely ran into anyone with my name. My friend Renie's formal name is Irene, but she's always gone by Renie or Renie Rae. I truly suits her! Hope you got a chance to read about her!

@J: Wouldn't that be the ultimate gift, if she got to see the project to completion. I'll be spending time with her this weekend. Such a blessing. Thank you for your kind words.

@Diane: I do believe Hilary has a heart of gold! I'm so happy to have made her -- and your -- acquaintance! I'm beginning to appreciate bare trees. And the way they contrast with the sky and let the sky and sun through. I've been taking lots of snaps of them lately. Very fun!
Kathleen said…
@Janie: Nothing but nothing compares to the blue skies you show us. I'm grateful for any time we get such clear blue. Minnesota does that to you. Makes you grateful for the tiniest bit of nice weather, warm people, a blue sky. Open invitation to visit. I don't have horses, but I sure know when you could learn to dog sled! Let me know if you'd ever be interested!
Kathleen said…
@Rudee: I wish I could send some of those blue skies your way!

@Hilary! Yay! You discovered your POTW! So well deserved.

And what a lovely comment you left. Your heart must be as big as Canada! And so glad you enjoyed the photos.

Now, are you going to make me do this each time I nominate a post of yours? LOL!
