Lost anything lately?


Today is the feast day of 
St. Anthony of Padua,
an early Franciscan from the 13th century, 
often considered the patron saint of lost things.

"Tony, tony look around.
Something's lost and can't be found."

I've never invoked St. Anthony's help,
but Fr. Chuck Tally, OFM, of friarside chats
has, "more than once."

When I was a wee lass, I lost my beloved Girl Scout ring. My mom told me to pray to St. Anthony. Lo and behold, one day I saw something in the grass catch a gleam of light and there was my ring. It had a chip out of the stone from the lawn mower, but I didn't care. St. Anthony had come thru for me. Way to go, dude.

Lost and found? I can relate to that :))

I liked this post Kathleen...but I remember years ago someone telling me to pray to St. Gerard, and now that I think of it, I have no idea who he is :))

Braja: Ha! St. Gerard, eh? I learned geometry from a *Sister" Gerard. I'll have to do a little research.

I had no idea St. Anthony was a Franciscan, although I can remember praying to him when I lost a precious childhood item (I didn't find it, but I didn't hold it against him). I love this quote: "Therefore good Jesus, for Thy own sake be to us a Jesus.” Thanks for the link!
