A blast from the past

Heat is basting us like a hot dog panting.

103 degrees.

In Minnesota.

In June.

Sure feels like climate change to me.

In Texas on days like these, I'd pack up my kids and head to Galveston.. If you can't fight it, join 'em mentality, I suppose. In Minnesota, I whine.

So I thought I'd post a photo of delightful summer day on the beach in 1986 with my first two kidlets, PreciousGrrlChild (left) and EarthDoctorSon (right). RockStarSon was not even the size of a grain of sand when this shot was taken.

May you find sweet breezes to cool hot summer days!

hey kathleen, it's hot here too! just like when i was a kid in the mid to late sixties and it was like this then. i think the real indication of global warming is how climatic conditions have changed so that regions are experiencing different weather. some are cooler and wetter, some are hotter and dryer. the jet stream has shifted, oh and then there's the ocean currents and the upwellings. the system's been changing for a long long time - it's just a spikier change as the globe warms faster. i remain optimistic. really i do! steven

i remember back home in the Philippines. as soon as we see the sun is up on summer days, we would just pack a small lunch box and a bottle of water and head on to the beach. those were the days when we were young. luckily, my boss' home is close to lake ontario in burlington, i always find time to walk and feel the wind...

nice one!

I can't believe you are having the same heat as us. It's not supposed to be triple digits til August. We're breaking records nearly every day here.

Cute photo! Kinda reminds me of era's coppertone sunscreen ads. Looks like a sweet breeze for kite fun, too!

Steven: Point taken! How long do you think it will take us human beans to adjust to the new unpredictability of weather? Thanks for stopping by!

JJRod'z: Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. How wonderful that you find time to walk and feel the wind! You must be a happy person!

Oh Ellen, the one thing I do appreciate about MN is that we never have the same weather for long. Triple digits and humidity rarely last more than 2 weeks. And it can stay as cold as Mother Nature wants for as long at she wants as far as I'm concerned! Hope you're finding relief from that heat!

Rudee--hehe, I like my lakes frozen . . . like margaritas!
